That I have to do?
If you are sure that your car has been stolen (check that it has not been taken by the tow truck, which sometimes happens), you have to file a report with the nearest police station. Subsequently, you will have to inform your Insurance Agent (Euroteide Seguros) by sending them a copy of the complaint filed. The car may never appear, but if it does, you will need to return to the police station to post the counterclaim and the vehicle recovery bulletin. You will also have to send both documents to your Agent to process the closing of the file and the compensation that may have been pending, with the company.
Partial Theft Compensation
In this case, your company will only pay you for the damages caused by stealing integral parts of your car. Each of the damaged parts is valued independently and according to the amount it costs to replace or repair them at the time of the accident.
- Within the concept of partial theft, it is possible that the part of the vehicle stolen from you is an Accessory. In this regard, it is necessary to distinguish between two types:
- Standard accessories. They are original factory accessories, such as a door, the steering wheel, a seat, etc. These standard accessories are almost always covered by our policy and our company will indemnify them at value again (whatever they are at the time of the accident). All the standard accessories are fully compensated and valued again, except for the tires, which you will have to see what the conditions of your policy indicate in this regard, since there are companies that do not cover them if there is no more damage, or that they they apply a depreciation and pay you a lower amount.
- Accessories not standard. These are non-original accessories, which are subsequently installed in the vehicle. You will also have to check the coverage of your policy, but it is normally necessary to declare them and pay a premium supplement for them so that they are covered in the event of a claim. For example, a GPS will have to be expressly declared so that if it is stolen, our company will pay us compensation for it.
Is it worth buying theft coverage?
Like everything, it is a decision that you must make personally, but from Euroteide Seguros we recommend that you hire it. The part of the premium corresponding to theft coverage is usually not expensive, and it is better to be protected in case a part or the whole vehicle is stolen. The newer or more expensive your vehicle, the more attractive it will be for thieves, but even if it is not such a vehicle, cars of all kinds are stolen every day. Nobody likes to be left without their car and on top of not being compensated for it, think if it happened to you now and you had to buy a new vehicle, you probably didn't have it in mind, nor did you have the money ready… Prevention is better than sorry, Euroteide Seguros We recommend that you insure your vehicle against theft. Hopefully it will never be stolen, but if it happens, at least your company will have to pay you the value of the stolen vehicle or the damage caused and you will not be left with anything.
