Management of fines. Notification, payment and appeal, if we have not paid the fine and we have decided to claim by presenting the Statement of Allegations, what is happening now?
Resolution of the administration and appeal
It may be that the decision of the Administration gives us the reason, otherwise if we want to continue to claim, we can file an "Appeal" within a month since the competent body issued the decision. This appeal is lodged with the highest authority in the hierarchy of the authority that issued the decision (you can read the details of this authority in the notification you received). In the appeal you must include all your personal details, identify the number of the decision you are appealing against and your reasons for appealing.

The decision issued by the Administration to our Appeal puts an end to the administrative process, which means that from that moment on, if we want to continue claiming, we have to do so through the courts, with the costs that this entails. There are only a few very specific cases in which it is possible to continue claiming from the Administration through the "Extraordinary Appeal for Review" (error of fact, appearance of documents of essential value, etc.).
Suspension of driving license
If we have committed an offence in which our driving licence has been withdrawn, in addition to the fine imposed on us, we must hand in our licence at the Sanctions Unit of the Traffic Headquarters which is responsible for the case or at our home. The deadline for this is indicated in the notification we have received.
Vehicle deposit
Sometimes the sanction includes the immobilization of our vehicle, which will be sealed or immobilized in a way that prevents its circulation. The expenses arising from this deposit or immobilization of the vehicle will have to be paid by the owner of the vehicle in traffic.
With this information from Euroteide Insurance, we intend to clarify a little the procedures to claim a fine. If you have further questions, you can consult the DGT website www.dgt.es. In any case, it is also highly recommended to hire the Fines Management Coverage that car insurance companies offer you. It is better not to receive any fine, but just in case, you should be prepared.
